Nature enthusiasts will find an array of abundant wildlife, birds, wildflowers, and a wealth of outdoor recreation at Sugarite Canyon State Park in New Mexico. A quick, 30-minute trip from Trinidad, it’s great for a day trip or short adventure.
Boat, sail, kayak, or canoe on the lake. Or, choose from over 20 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, or birding. In the winter, trails are open for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. And when the snow flies, pier fishing turns into ice fishing.
The park offers two campgrounds with 40 developed campsites.
